City60 Roomsets

Each year, we see new trends that take the design world by storm. So, when it comes to what’s on-trend, whether it’s food, fashion or decorating, people tend to use the latest style as inspiration to create unique and current looks.

It’s no secret that we’re a nation of passionate home decorators and renovators, evident from the spate of reality renovation programs on TV. We spend a lot of time and attention to detail when it comes to the look and feel of our homes.

Often referred to as the heart of the home, kitchens are arguably one of the most important rooms. To help you create the ultimate space we wanted to share some of the latest trends we’re seeing crop up in kitchens this year.

Brass tones are something that we’ve seen incorporated for some time. In the kitchen, it appears that it’s all about brass accents, which help create an ambient and luxe scene. From brass hobs to cookware and taps we’re seeing more and more of this stunning finish around the kitchen.

Like most things, moderation is the key. If you’re mad about brass, some ways to incorporate it effortlessly is to opt for a stove with brass trimmings. Falcon is a well-respected, long-standing UK based appliance manufacturer and the brand’s Classic model with brass trim (pictured) is available in a number of colours, so despite the palette of your kitchen you’re sure to find the perfect stove to complement.

The move from mirrored or glass to subway tiles is a common trend in most modern kitchens. If you choose to incorporate neutral toned tiles, than you can afford to bring in some pops of colour to add character and lift the look of your kitchen.

 A shift from stainless steel

Recently, we’ve seen a noticeable shift in ovens, fridges and dishwashers with people moving from popular stainless steel options to monochromatic tones. The common theme being seen in the latest kitchen designs is the incorporation of black and white appliances.

One fairly obvious factor contributing to this move is the upkeep and effort required to keep stainless steel appliances looking pristine… No one likes smudge marks!

It’s always interesting to read up on the latest trends and kitchen designs but when choosing to renovate or update your decor, make sure you go for pieces that will stand the test of time. Investing in top-quality appliances with warrantees is a great way to safeguard yourself, particularly with big ticket items.

It’s interesting how design trends change over time. I’ve always been a fan of glass splash backs, but, as you said, a tiled look for your splash back is becoming more popular. Some people don’t follow trends, of course, and may stick with glass, but it’s good information for those who want to stay up to date. Thanks!
