Roasted nut butter

You may be surprised at how easy it is to make your own nut butter. All you need is nuts – any nuts are fine and a blender. I recommend buying your nuts roasted for more flavour. But raw is fine too.

You might think that making a smooth nut butter requires special skills, let me confirm that it really doesn’t. All you need to do is put your nuts in the blender, and watch them turn into a velvety smooth paste. The point where it starts to turn from ground nuts to a paste is immensely satisfying. Try it and you will see what I mean…

Wait for it…. Nuts!
Any nuts are fine or a combination. In terms of the amount, that is entirely optional. If I’m making a small amount in my nutribullet I will use a cup of nuts which would yield about 1/2 cup of butter. If you want to make a large amount in your food processor, use at least 3 to 4 cups.

Place your nuts in your blender, then blend. In about 40 seconds or less it will reach a ground nut stage. Stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula. Process again where it will start to clump together, continue to process until you see it turn to a paste (I know I’ve already said this, but the first time I made my own butter, this point was very exciting). Process until the entire mix is lovely, smooth, glossy and velvety.
