Strictly for peanut butter lovers, this sauce is rich, delicious and has the gorgeous salty caramel flavour that we all love with addition of peanut butter. This is perfect with anything – pancakes, ice-cream slices or cakes. I like to serve as a simple desert with a platter of sliced fruit to dip into. I’ve used milk in this sauce, but for a richer sauce, use single or even double cream. For a milder nut flavour swap peanut butter with cashew nut butter.
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 3/4 cup milk
- 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- Put all ingredients in a pot and stir continuously over low heat until the sugar has dissolved and all ingredients are well amalgamated. Continue to cook for a further five minutes until it reaches a nice rich golden colour. (don't walk away from the stove as it can catch and burn quickly).
